He studied at the Lisbon Academy of Amateur Musicians, at the Hot Club de Portugal and at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.

He attended seminars with John Abercrombie, Gary Burton, Attila Zoller, Kenny Burrel, Mike Freeman, Dave Liebman and Joe Henderson among others.

In the 80’s he played with most of the national jazz musicians of the time and some who passed by like David Gausden, Richie Buckley, Luigi Waits, Tommy Halferty, John Wadham, Jimmy McKay, Steve Potts and Ramon Cardo.

Taught at the Hot Club de Portugal and JBJazz.

In the late 80’s he started to be invited to work with artists from other musical areas for recordings and concerts.

He worked with various groups and artists from different areas such as Septeto de Tomás Pimentel, Quinteto de Carlos Martins, Nanã Sousa Dias, Sons da Lusofonia Orchestra, Orchestra of the Hot Club de Portugal, Claus Nymark Big Band, Ramon Cardo Quartet, Sons do Mundo Orchestra by Laurent Filipe, Quintet of José Meneses, Alexandre Diniz Quartet, Fausto, Sérgio Godinho, Vitorino, Janita Salomé, Misia, Paulo Gonzo, Jorge Palma, Cristina Branco, Eugenia Melo e Castro, José Mário Branco, Né Ladeiras, Dulce Pontes, Brigade Vitor Jara, Songs of Sun and Moon, Filipa Pais, Voices of the South, Lena d’Água, Rão Kyao, Carlos Mendes, João Gil, João Afonso, Gil do Carmo, António Zambujo, Mafalda Veiga, Manuel Freire, José Medeiros, Jorge Fernando, Amélia Muje, Ana Bacalhau and Marta Pereira da Costa among others.
